THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY
(Established. 1956)
The Lone Star Youth Council was organized in 1956. The principal organizers were Mr. P. V. Malone, Mr. Malcolm Bronson, Mr. Russell Sharp, and Mr. Anderson Land who randomly met at selected places and residences within the community. The original purpose for the organization was to support the black communities of Jasper County in the areas of technical assistance, housing, health care, job training, education, economic development and other areas of concern as expressed by the general membership.
In 1957, the Lone Star Youth Council was awarded a ten (10) acre tract of land on U. S. Highway 190 West that was developed into athletic fields (currently in use today) for use by the communities of Northern Jasper County.
In 1994, the Lone Star Youth Council became the Lone Star Youth Council, Inc., has Articles Of Incorporation, Corporation By-Laws and is a 501(c)(3) charitable tax exempt non-profit organization that is currently recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service. The home office is located at 750 Burch Street, Jasper, Texas, 75951.
